The APC on 1 June 2026 defended President Tinubu's economic reform programme, saying Nigerians had stronger reasons to be confident about the country's economic direction despite the strain caused by policies such as fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange unification. The party pointed to improving macroeconomic indicators as evidence the reforms were beginning to deliver broader benefits.
