At the APC National Stakeholders' Summit held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on 22 May 2025, governors, National Assembly members and party leaders from all 36 states and the FCT formally adopted President Tinubu as the party's sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The motion, moved by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and seconded by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, was passed before Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and party members from across the country, signalling unified party backing well ahead of the next election cycle.
