The naira closed 2025 at roughly ₦1,435.75 to the dollar, strengthening by more than 7% over the year for its best annual performance in over a decade. The gains followed a series of Central Bank reforms, including the clearing of about $7 billion in outstanding foreign exchange obligations and the unification of previously fragmented exchange-rate windows, which narrowed the gap between official and parallel market rates. Foreign capital inflows also rose, with foreign capital importation climbing to $23.21 billion for the year, a trend the administration pointed to as evidence of returning investor confidence in the economy.
