President Tinubu commissioned the first 30-kilometre stretch of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, running from Ahmadu Bello Way to Eleko Junction, on 26 May 2025. The six-lane dual carriageway is the opening segment of a project that will eventually connect Lagos to Cross River State along Nigeria's coastline, passing through Ondo, Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ibom. Alongside the coastal highway, the president also commissioned several other road projects in the south, including sections of the East-West Road and the Calabar-Ugep-Katsina-Ala Road, projects the administration says will unlock economic activity along key transport corridors.
