In a nationwide broadcast on 29 May 2025 marking his second anniversary in office, President Tinubu said his administration's economic reforms were paying off, pointing to a fiscal deficit that narrowed from 5.4% of GDP in 2023 to 3.0% in 2024 and a debt-service-to-revenue ratio that fell from nearly 100% to under 40% over the same period. He noted the government collected over ₦6 trillion in revenue in the first quarter of 2025 alone, and said NNPC, freed from the fuel subsidy burden, had become a net contributor to the federation account. The president framed the milestones as the halfway point of a longer recovery under the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.
